Architel’s Haiti Project with Dr. Gipson
While stewardship begins by seeing to the needs of the local community, it doesn’t need to stop at the county line. When a catastrophic magnitude 7.0 earthquake hit Leogane, near Port-au-Prince more than three million people were affected. More than 200,000 people died, 300,000 were injured and more than 1,000,000 are STILL homeless. The Architel team decided to take Haitian earthquake relief on as one of our 2010 community service projects. As it turns out a friend of ours, Dr. Sean Gipson, was headed to Haiti to perform surgery on the survivers. Dr. Gipson has been performing surgeries in Haiti twice a year for quite sometime. Over the course of a visit he will do between 60 and 80 surgeries. The Architel team donated supplies, clothes and funds to help offset the cost of Dr. Gipson’s visit. Dr. Gipson just returned from Haiti were he saw over 900 patients and performed over 60 surgeries. Dr. Gipson proudly wore his Architel shirt while he was there (you might have seen him on ABC News wearing it). Here are a few pictures from Dr. Gipson’s visit.
