Architel® announced today that the company has opened an network operations center (NOC) and technical support center (TSC) in metropolitan Manila, the location of a large number of high technology companies. The company has simultaneously named Abraham Olandres general manager of International Technical Support.
With more and more clients expecting around the clock support and monitoring, Architel® saw an Asian based NOC and TSC as a critical component of its growth strategy. Olandres, a veteran technology professional with years of experience in Asia, will be based in Manila and will direct the company’s after hours monitoring and support efforts.
“This announcement is essential to propel our expansion. This is a key position and our first major appointment outside the United States,” said Scott Ryan, President of Architel®. “The growth we have seen in our business, particularly in mission critical monitoring and support, in the past six months, indicates that Asia will be a strong area of focus for Architel’s remote monitoring and support effort. We are very pleased to have been able to attract someone of Abe’s caliber to our rapidly growing company.”
Olandres joins Architel® from Headstrong, a global consultancy, where he held a senior development position. While at Headstrong, he was primarily involved with the company’s Microsoft Business Solutions relationship. Olandres received his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City, Philippines.
“It is exciting to see the speed with which Architel® has grown since 2001,” Olandres said. He noted that the company’s exclusive focus on outsourced IT services for small and medium size business and attention to customers has created a reputation that will be hard to beat.
“Businesses are seeing there is a cost-effective alternative to the ongoing technical support costs of managing their own IT infrastructure,” he said. “This, plus the fact that Architel® can noticeably reduce downtime and increase productivity puts it ahead of the competition. The lower labor costs in Manila will allow Architel® to provide around the clock support at a fraction of the costs to do so in the United States.”
The market for outsourced IT services is growing rapidly as small and medium-sized businesses migrate from in-house and break-fix solutions. Forrester Research has projected that the market for outsourced IT services for small and medium size businesses will grow from $152 million at the end of 1998 to more than $5.3 billion by 2003.
