Hanging out with Rocky Bleier
Two weeks ago I had the opportunity to hang out with a living legend, Rocky Bleier. Rocky was drafted by the Steelers after graduating from college only to be drafted by the Army a year later. Rocky was injured in the Vietnam War and upon returning was told he could not play professional football due to his injuries. The attached article is the contents of the June 9, 1975 Sports Illustrated cover article on Rocky’s experience in Vietnam. His
experience was so remarkable a book written and a made for TV movie titled “Fighting Back” was made to immortalize his accomplishments. Post Vietman he fought his way back onto the Steeler’s and helped lead them to 4 Super Bowl titles as a running back for them.
