Basecamp Reminders!
Alexander Muse , March 31, 2008

I was in a meeting with a client on Friday and she noted that the problem with our company was that none of our employees logged into her project site. I tried to explain that many of the invited employees (i.e. invited to her project) could see activity via email, but had no need to log into the project site to actually add any data. She didn’t believe me. We need to fix this perception problem:
First, if you are not on a project, make sure your name is removed from the project site (Nesrine needs your help on this). Second, if you ARE on a project, make sure you login the project site each day. Regardless of whether or not you have a reason to be in the site, the client’s perception is that you are not doing your job unless you are logging into the site regularly.
Basecamp helped resolve this by changing the ‘Joe Blow, Last activity 32 days ago’ to ‘Jow Blog Hasn’t logged in recently.’ While this helped, we really need to make sure our client’s perception of our work is at least as good as our actual work. Does this make sense?
Basecamp gets better!

Basecamp just got a whole lot easier to use. Personally, I hate getting emails that require me to log into a system (i.e. basecamp) to respond to. I always wonder, “why can’t I simply respond to the email without logging in?” Starting today, Basecamp will allow users to respond to email notifications of messages directly from within their email account. Awesome! Here are the detail from 37 signals. Here is a screenshot:
